The Democrats Chose to Lose the Election

The Democrats being seriously on the back foot at the end of Biden’s term likely calculated that losing this election and attempting to benefit from the chaotic and authoritarian nature of Trump. However, this is a major miscalculation. The Democrats since the era of Reagan have been moving to the right this has caused more progressive forces with in the base to become less and less supportive of the party. This all came to ahead in 2024, Kamala Harris failed to make herself different from Biden and continued to support the Genocide in Gaza and more hardline immigration policies. This made her no different from Trump alienating Progressive voters and making swing voters more inclined to vote for Trump. The Democrats have not moved from this direction and weaken leadership in congress has further harmed their chances of winning in 2028. The Democrats are on a path of failure and likely will struggle without a major shake up.
