The United Kingdom and Canada moved to condition recognition of Palestinian rights on political concessions, effectively treating basic human rights as leverage rather than obligations. When rights are framed as rewards for good behavior under occupation, they stop being rights and become tools of control, managed by the same Western states that enabled the violence in the first place.
