I’m Off To Cuba

As I’m writing this, the plane to Havana is taking off. You won’t hear from me for a few days.

I’m doing this because I believe it’s our duty as Americans to (at the very least) do what we can to stand with the Cuban people because it is OUR empire which is crushing them.

I’m honored to participate in the Nuestra America Convoy organized by CODEPINK and Progressive International. We’re bringing together hundreds of people together to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people who are suffering immensely under the US blockade.

Right now in Cuba, Parents are struggling to feed their children. There are rolling blackouts. Everything is limited in supply.

Trump declared Cuba a “special threat” in his second term which has been used to justify cutting off the island of 11 million people from all energy imports, especially oil. This is stacked on top of the blockade that has lasted since 1960 til today.

We are bringing aid of our own, tons and tons of it. I am looking forward to dialoguing with community leaders and the people to understand how they are surviving this manufactured suffering and how I can better support them.

Palestine unlocked my awareness to everything including the global threat that the American Empire is. I’ve become a Rebel aka anti-imperial and standing up for our neighbors (just 90 miles away!) is the logical step that any self-respecting anti-imperial would undertake. I’m excited to learn how to better serve humanity and share what I’ve learned with you guys.
