Weekly Update – January 2, 2026 This is our update for the last week, written from the heart of a mother trying to stay strong in very hard conditions. A new year has begun, but here in Gaza, it does not feel like time has changed. There were no lights, no celebrations, no sense of a new beginning. New Year’s arrived with darkness, cold, and silence. On New Year’s night, heavy rain poured in through our window. Water flooded inside our home and completely soaked our mattress. As a mother, I had to act quickly—moving my children away from the wet and cold, trying to dry what I could, and doing everything possible to keep them warm. It was a long, exhausting night filled with worry. A mother’s struggle here is not only about the rain or the cold. It is the constant fear of not being able to protect her children. Holding them while they shiver, wondering if they will get sick, and questioning how much longer we can endure this. Winter in these conditions is unforgiving. Every storm finds its way into our homes and into our hearts. Each day becomes a new test of patience, strength, and survival. Financially, our situation has become even harder. The value of the dollar has dropped significantly when exchanged. When we convert donations now, we receive much less than before, which makes covering basic needs increasingly difficult. This new year did not begin with joy or change. It began with survival, with a mother doing her best for her children, and with a fragile hope that the days ahead may be kinder. Please do not forget us. Your support, your sharing, and your presence give us the strength to keep going.
